Tin bronze alloys’ chart Print

When added in an increasing percentage up to 9-10% tin gives rise to alloys with very good corrosion resistance and good mechanical properties.
These alloys are plastically workable and they can be rolled, extruded, forged, moulded and drawn.
By increasing tin percentage you can obtain higher hardness values hence less pliability.
Bronze high resistance to corrosion explains its extensive use in shipbuilding industry and in materials that get in contact with liquids or corrosive atmospheres.
The appellation “bronze” is supposed to refer to tin bronze alloys; though any other bronze alloy is called “bronze” when containing other metals even if it does not contain any tin or a minimum quantity of it.
Therefore you can find silicon bronze, manganese bronze, aluminium bronze, beryllium bronze, lead bronze while strictly defined bronzes are called common bronzes.
